Portuguese brewer Super Bock Group has doubled sales in China of its main brand of beer, Super Bock, Expresso reports.
The Portuguese newspaper quotes Super Bock Group Chief Executive Rui Lopes Ferreira as saying China is now his company’s second-biggest market, accounting for 40 per cent of its sales outside Portugal last year.
Mr Ferreira said Super Bock Group sales in China had amounted to €451 million (US$526 million) last year, or 12 percent of the company’s annual revenue.
He said Super Bock beer had 5,000 outlets in three Chinese provinces and thus was available to 200 million people there.
Super Bock Group expects the Chinese market to help its sales outside Portugal to grow by 25 percent this year, Expresso quotes the chief executive as saying.
