On April 30th, the President of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, Rubina Leal, received the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Zhao Bentang.

On the occasion of Zhao Bentang's official visit to the region, the ambassador presented his compliments to the president of the Madeiran Parliament, offering his congratulations for the new legislature.

Rubina Leal, for her part, expressed Parliament's willingness to collaborate in deepening institutional relations between the Autonomous Region of Madeira and the People's Republic of China, praising the cooperation that has been evident over the years between China and the Region, pointing to the harmonious integration of the 228 Chinese citizens living in Madeira.

For his part, Zhao Bentang said that Madeira, like Portugal, is a strategic global partner for the People's Republic of China. The ambassador stressed the attractiveness of the archipelago, as well as Portugal, which guarantees the conditions for even greater Chinese investment, according to a statement from ALRAM.
