Trade between China, Portuguese-speaking Countries tops US$180.385 bln in January-October 2023

Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$180.385 billion in the period from January to October 2023. It represented a 1.20 percent decrease year-on-year, according to data from China Customs. Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$119.597 billion to China in the first tenth months of 2023 – an increase of 1.47 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$60.788 billion in the same period, down 6.05 percent year-on-year.


The total value of merchandise traded in October between the parties topped US$18.961 billion, an increase of 17.05 percent from the prior-year period. The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$13.278 billion, up 37.37 percent year-to-year, according to Chinese official data. China sold goods to those countries worth US$5.683 billion in October, a decrease of 13.02 percent compared with the previous year.
