On May 23rd in Brasilia, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of Brazil, Luciana Santos, received a delegation from the China Isotope & Radiation Corporation (CIRC) to discuss cooperation in the area of nuclear products, especially in the modernization of the radiopharmaceutical production line, the export and import of isotopes, nuclear applications in medical diagnosis and the application of irradiation.
The CIRC representative, Beijing Branch, said that he had come to promote and advance the cooperation project between the two countries, which has been under construction since last year between CIRC, the Nuclear and Energy Research Institute (IPEN) and Brazil's National Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN).
"With the CIRC-IPEN association, the MCTI wants to promote the national priorities of modernizing the radiopharmaceutical infrastructure and expanding nuclear medicine in Brazil, with a direct impact on care provided by the Unified Health System," said Minister Luciana Santos.
The two sides are currently actively promoting cooperation. The expectation is that an investment proposal will be signed before the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro in July, when President Xi Jinping will visit Brazil.
