Chinese manufacturer BYD's plants in Brazil could become export hubs for buses and other electric vehicles as local demand increases. This would make it possible to incorporate orders for other countries, especially Latin American countries, into the local production line at more competitive prices.

This was stated by Bruno Paiva, BYD Brazil's bus sales director, during a series of technical visits to the electric bus garages of the Transmilênio system in Bogotá, Colombia.

According to Bruno Paiva, if Brazilian demand for buses increases, it will be possible to make local production cheaper and increase the nationalization of vehicles. Currently, BYD makes the chassis structure, batteries, tires and wheels in Brazil.
