On April 9, the Workers' Party (PT) and the Communist Party of China (CCP) met in Beijing for the 7th Theoretical Seminar. The PT delegation included the party's national president, Gleisi Hoffmann, and was received by the minister of the international department of the CCP Central Committee, Liu Jianchao.

"Our parties have had 40 years of political relations. The first PT delegation to visit China was in 1984. This year's delegation and attendance at the theoretical seminar is the largest in our history, invited by the Chinese party," Gleisi said on her social networks.

During the event, Gleisi read out a letter from President Lula welcoming the seminar, and Liu Jianchao read out a similar letter from President Xi Jinping. "Both praise the cooperation between the two countries and the two parties and reaffirm the commitment to shared development, with a more inclusive and sustainable model, for both countries and for the world," said Gleisi.
