The General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) has recently made available in its system the sanitary certificate template applicable to Brazilian exports of frozen fruit pulp and fruits. According to Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, interested establishments may now begin the registration process in the China Import Food Enterprise Registration (CIFER) system, a necessary step for authorising exports to the Chinese market.

The procedure covers frozen fruit pulp and fruits such as açaí, mango, guava, pineapple, passion fruit and other species already recognised as food products by the Chinese authorities. Registration must be carried out directly by the exporting establishment, which is responsible for submitting the required documentation. Following approval by the GACC, the establishment will be assigned a registration number, a requirement for exports.

All shipments must be accompanied by the official sanitary certificate agreed between the two countries. The Ministry also recommends that exporters consult the applicable sanitary and customs procedures and requirements in advance.

The measure could create new opportunities for Brazilian producers and companies in the fruit sector in the Chinese market.
