Chinese President Xi Jinping recently congratulated Carlos Vila Nova on his re-election as President of São Tomé and Príncipe.

Xi Jinping stated that the relations between China and São Tomé and Príncipe have maintained a good momentum of development in recent years.

According to the Chinese President, both sides have continuously deepened mutual political trust and provided firm support to each other on issues related to their respective core interests and main concerns. Pragmatic co-operation in various fields has also produced significant results.

Xi Jinping also highlighted that he attaches great importance to the development of relations between China and São Tomé and Príncipe.

The Chinese President expressed his willingness to work with President Carlos Vila Nova, taking advantage of the opportunity provided by the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, with a view to continuously elevating the strategic partnership between China and São Tomé and Príncipe to new levels and bringing greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.
