CRRC (China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation) will open a train supply factory in the city of Araraquara, in the interior of São Paulo, after winning an international tender for the supply of trains, held by the São Paulo state government.

With an initial investment of R$ 50 million, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of railway equipment is expected to begin operations in 2026, with an estimated 100 direct jobs. This investment is part of the SP nos Trilhos (SP on Tracks) program, which brings together 40 railway projects and forecasts R$ 190 billion in investments over the next few years. The program plans to acquire 400 trains, modernize the fleet, and expand the network by 2035.

The factory will produce trains for lines 1-Blue, 2-Green, and 3-Red of the São Paulo Metro, as well as vehicles for the Intercity Train, which will connect São Paulo to Campinas and is expected to begin operating in 2031. The trains will have high-performance engines, with a maximum speed of 100 km/h and capacity for 1,800 passengers, as well as free passage between cars—a model called a gangway.
