The Handicraft Exhibition of Portuguese-speaking Countries “Lusophone Polychromy”, one of the activities of the 18th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, opened on 29 June at the IAM Gallery. Organised by the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), the exhibition brings together items donated to the Permanent Secretariat by delegations of Portuguese-speaking Countries over more than two decades since its establishment.

Under the theme “Lusophone Polychromy”, the exhibition is divided into four sections. The section “Between Warp and Weft” displays everyday utensils made from natural fibres, reflecting the ways of life and aesthetic traditions of different regions. The section “Textures of Sound” presents traditional musical instruments, accompanied by projections of performances, allowing the public to experience how music transcends languages and borders. The section “Stories of Sculptures” brings together wooden and ceramic pieces that reflect religious beliefs, folk myths and scenes of everyday life. The section “Beauty of Everyday Life” showcases daily-use items, such as tableware and ornaments, infused with local aesthetics. Each piece reflects the wisdom of artisans from Portuguese-speaking Countries and techniques passed down from generation to generation, vividly portraying the rich cultural diversity and traditions of the Lusophone world.

The exhibition will be open to the public from today until 5 July, daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with free admission. It is closed on Mondays. All interested parties are welcome to visit the exhibition and, through the textures of handicrafts, discover the cultural charm of the Lusophone world.
