Brazil’s Ministry of Finance opened the Tax and Customs Attaché Office of Brazil in Beijing, China, last week. Implemented through the Federal Revenue Service, the office is Brazil’s fifth tax and customs post abroad. It aims to reduce bureaucratic barriers to trade, strengthen tax and customs co-operation, and support investors and economic operators from the two countries.
The opening of the office comes amid the growth of trade relations between Brazil and China. According to the Ministry of Finance, trade between the two countries exceeded 170 billion US dollars in 2025, with a focus on commodities such as soybeans, iron ore and oil. China has been Brazil’s main trading partner since 2009.
According to Finance Minister Dario Durigan, the implementation of the attaché office is intended to contribute to a safer, more dynamic and less bureaucratic economic environment for bilateral operations. He said that the office should serve as a point of contact to provide greater speed and operational efficiency for economic operators.
