The third Festa Junina in Beijing was held recently, bringing together around 500 participants from Brazil, China and several other countries. Promoted by the Council of Brazilian Citizens in Beijing, the event was included for the first time in the official programme of the Brazil-China Cultural Year, offering the public an immersive experience of one of the most traditional expressions of Brazilian culture.
According to Rafael Henrique Zerbetto, Executive Director of the Council of Brazilian Citizens in Beijing, preserving the tradition of the Festa Junina abroad helps strengthen ties within the Brazilian community and create new opportunities for cultural exchange between Brazilians and Chinese people.
He said that the initiative enables the integration of the Brazilian community while presenting Brazilian culture to the Chinese public, promoting closer ties with the local community.
Zerbetto also highlighted that the inclusion of the festival in the programme of the Brazil-China Cultural Year represents an opportunity to present a broader image of Brazil to the Chinese public.
Created in 2024, the Festa Junina in Beijing has now reached its third edition and is consolidating itself as an important initiative for promoting Brazilian culture in China. The organisers hope to turn it into a permanent event on the cultural calendar of the Chinese capital, contributing to the strengthening of ties between the Brazilian and Chinese peoples.
