Hainan Delegation Visits Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao

On October 14, Mr. Liu Xiaoming, Governor of the People’s Government of Hainan Province, led a delegation to the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao. The delegation exchanged views with Secretary-General Ji Xianzheng on utilizing Forum Macao’s multilateral mechanism and Macao’s platform advantages to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation between Hainan Province and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs).


Governor Liu introduced the current preparations for the independent customs operation of the Hainan Free Trade Port, emphasizing its role as a distinctive symbol of, and a key gateway for, China’s opening-up in the new era. Governor Liu expressed his hope that the Permanent Secretariat would promote the coordinated development of Hainan, Macao, and PSCs, familiarize Hainan enterprises with the market rules and investment environments of PSCs, and support Hainan in becoming a transit hub for PSC products entering mainland China, thus deepening industrial cooperation and establishing a mechanism for closer regular communication.

Secretary-General Ji presented the work of Forum Macao and its Permanent Secretariat. He expressed his hope for close communication with Hainan Province and suggested aligning the Permanent Secretariat’s future annual activity plan with major economic and trade events in Hainan, in order to promote diverse cooperation and exchanges between Hainan Province, Macao, and PSCs.


Attendees included Ms. Xie Ying and Mr. António Lei, Deputy Secretary-Generals of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao; Ms. Li Xiaohui, Coordinator of the Executive Office of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao; and Ms. Liu Yimei, Advisor of the Executive Office of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao.


After the meeting, Governor Liu and his delegation visited the Pavilion of China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform.
