The 4th Industrial and Commercial Conference for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was held in Macao on 22 October. All members of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao took part, alongside 20 Portuguese-speaking officials attending the Colloquium on E-Commerce between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
Secretary-General Ji Xianzheng was invited to address the plenary session, where he outlined five areas for co-operation to link the Greater Bay Area’s technological and industrial strengths with the development needs of Portuguese-speaking countries: the blue economy and food security; green energy and social infrastructure; two-way trade and industrial development; digitalisation and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises; and technical and vocational training. The Permanent Secretariat is ready to act as a bridge, working with the Greater Bay Area’s industrial and commercial sectors to improve the exchange of information on needs, match projects and explore the “product + technology + investment + training” model, with a view to promoting broad-based, mutually beneficial co-operation with Portuguese-speaking countries.
