On February 8, the Teatro Gazeta in São Paulo hosted the dance group from the Minzu University of South-Central China. The two-session show Colors of China was part of the Chinese New Year celebrations. The free event filled the theater's 700 seats.

The show, which mixed tradition and modernity, brought together 20 dancers who took turns in a sequence of performances inspired by the traditions of different ethnic groups in China, such as Mongols and Tibetans. Each number brought elements characteristic of their respective cultures, from the clothing to the choreographed movements.

The event was attended by authorities from the state of São Paulo government and the Consul General of China, Yu Peng, who highlighted the importance of São Paulo as a bridge and link for cultural exchanges and mutual learning between Brazil and China. “We are very honored to invite artists from Minzu University of South-Central China to show the Brazilian people the splendid 5,000-year-old Chinese civilization and build a bridge between our peoples,” he said.
