Brazil received US$6.1 billion in Chinese investment across 52 projects, 31 of which were linked to sustainability and clean energy, according to recently released data from the Brazil-China Business Council.

In the automotive sector, Chinese automaker Geely and French automaker Renault formalised a partnership in November 2025 to produce and market electric and low-emission vehicles in Brazil. At least eight Chinese brands are already producing vehicles in the country or have announced plans to establish local production.

In the energy sector, Chinese company CHINT inaugurated a smart-meter factory in Manaus in 2025. State Grid has begun its third ultra-high-voltage power transmission project in Brazil. The line will carry renewable energy from the Northeast to the country’s main centres of electricity consumption and will be financed, built and operated by the Chinese company’s Brazilian subsidiary.

The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) and the Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM) are meanwhile structuring a US$1 billion investment fund. With operations scheduled to begin in 2026, the fund will support Brazilian projects in green energy, infrastructure, the bioeconomy, mining, agriculture, the digital economy and artificial intelligence.

China’s investments in Brazil in 2025 show that co-operation between the two countries has continued to expand in green industries, as well as in electric mobility, energy technologies, infrastructure and finance.
