Chinese Ambassador to Portugal visits Castelo Branco

Last week, Chinese Ambassador to Portugal Yang Yirui visited Castelo Branco at the invitation of the municipality, where he met with Mayor Leopoldo Rodrigues and held meetings with officials responsible for areas such as economic development, innovation and regional promotion, as well as with representatives of business, academic and innovation institutions.

 

During the visit, Ambassador Yang witnessed the signing of a co-operation agreement between Castelo Branco Municipality and the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry and visited several representative companies in the region. The ambassador and Mayor Leopoldo Rodrigues also gave an interview to local media.

 

The ambassador highlighted that, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the China-Portugal comprehensive strategic partnership has continued to deepen, producing significant results in practical co-operation. He expressed the Chinese Embassy’s willingness to strengthen exchanges and co-operation between Castelo Branco and Chinese cities and regions, with a view to making the most of their complementary strengths and achieving mutual benefits.

 

Leopoldo Rodrigues highlighted the progress China has made in its economic and social development, emphasising Castelo Branco’s advantages in terms of its location, industrial infrastructure, innovation, and tourism and cultural resources. The mayor expressed his willingness to strengthen exchanges with China and deepen practical co-operation in various areas.
