The Mayor of Davinópolis, in the State of Maranhão, Brazil, José Gonçalves Lima, will meet Chen Jinsong, President of Bank of China, in São Paulo on 8 July, at the invitation of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Brazil. The meeting will also be attended by Wang Dalong, International Director of the Brazilian Association of Chinese Enterprises, an organisation that brings together Chinese companies operating in Brazil and promotes investment, technology transfer, and industrial and infrastructure exchanges.
The meeting comes at a time when Maranhão is consolidating itself as a strategic destination for Chinese investment, particularly in the sectors of infrastructure, renewable energy, agribusiness and logistics. Among the most significant projects are the investments planned by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) in the Port of São Luís and interest in the Port of Itaqui, within the framework of trade links associated with the Belt and Road Initiative.
In this context, Davinópolis is seeking to strengthen its international integration through the establishment of the first international dry port linked to Asian countries. The logistics complex, located in the Davinópolis Industrial District, is expected to handle up to 1,000 lorries per day, reduce transport costs, shorten delivery times and attract new industries and distribution centres to the Davinópolis/Imperatriz axis, connected to the BR-010 highway, the North-South Railway and ports such as Itaqui and Santos.
