The installation of Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors’ (GWM) factory in Aracruz, in the north of the State of Espírito Santo, is expected to bring the company’s investment in Brazil above the 10 billion reais initially planned.

The official announcement of GWM’s second industrial unit in Brazil took place recently on the site where the factory will be built, in an area of 1.7 million square metres in Barra do Riacho. The event was attended by GWM representatives led by the company’s Global Product Director, Meng Xiangjun.

At the new factory, GWM plans to develop a larger-scale operation. With an area larger than that of the company’s first unit in Brazil, located in Iracemápolis, in the State of São Paulo, and inaugurated 10 months ago, the future facility will have capacity to accommodate more suppliers in its surrounding area.

According to information from the Government of the State of Espírito Santo, GWM’s future factory is expected to have production capacity of up to 200,000 vehicles per year, initial investment estimated at 4.6 billion reais and the potential to generate up to 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.
