The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Cabo Verde recently donated 30 portable communication devices to the Praia Municipal Police, in an initiative aimed at strengthening operational capacity and coordination among officers.

The handover of the equipment took place at a ceremony attended by representatives of the municipal authorities and Chinese diplomacy. According to the Mayor of Praia, Francisco Carvalho, the new devices will help improve the mobility and efficiency of officers on the ground by facilitating real-time communication.

The donation includes radios and communication equipment capable of transmitting data, images and operational information, contributing to a faster and more effective response to incidents recorded in the municipality.

The municipal authorities noted that the strengthening of technical resources comes at a time when the Praia Municipal Police is undergoing modernisation. An increase in the number of officers is also planned in order to respond to growing demands in the areas of urban security and inspection.

For his part, the Chinese Ambassador, Zhang Yang, said that the donation demonstrates China’s commitment to supporting local development and deepening cooperation between institutions of the two countries. He also expressed the hope of strengthening exchanges and cooperation in areas such as public administration and social development.
