The number of passengers travelling between Brazil and China in the first four months of 2026 exceeded, for the first time, the levels recorded before the Covid-19 pandemic. Between January and April, 5,954 travellers were counted between the two countries, up from 4,297 recorded in the same period of 2019.

The recovery coincides with the first 11 months of the visa waiver granted by China to Brazilian citizens, in force since June 2025. In turn, Brazil has also waived visa requirements for Chinese citizens travelling to the country, a measure that came into effect on 1 May 2026.

According to data from the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC), passenger volume also registered growth of 38% compared with the first four months of 2025, when 4,289 travellers were recorded between the two nations.

The numbers confirm the recovery of mobility between Brazil and China, driven by the strengthening of bilateral connections and the easing of entry rules. Throughout the whole of 2025, passenger flow reached 12,754 people, already surpassing the 12,239 travellers recorded in 2019, before the pandemic.
