Brazil's Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA) recently held the first edition of the Brazil-China Environmental Policy Experience Exchange Dialogue in Brasília. The initiative brought together experts from both countries to discuss strategic themes on the socio-environmental agenda, including ecosystem conservation and restoration, sustainable value chains, bioeconomy, waste management, circular economy and climate finance.
During the meeting, representatives from different areas of the Brazilian ministry presented the main advances and results of current environmental policies. Among the highlights were the set of measures adopted by the Brazilian Government to achieve the goal of zero deforestation by 2030, as well as initiatives related to promoting the bioeconomy, strengthening waste management, developing the circular economy and expanding access to climate finance.
In turn, the Chinese delegation shared its environmental priorities and experiences, focusing on sustainable development strategies, ecosystem conservation and restoration, as well as co-operation mechanisms and climate finance.
