Invest Madeira is taking part, from 30 May to 6 June, in a business mission to Mainland China and Macao, with the aim of strengthening institutional and business relations between the Autonomous Region of Madeira and the Asian market. The initiative focuses on attracting foreign direct investment, technological innovation and academic co-operation.
This is Invest Madeira's second mission to this market, which is traditional for the Region and where Madeiran companies with established commercial links already operate. The delegation includes the Regional Secretary for the Economy, José Manuel Rodrigues, who is accompanying the agenda with a view to deepening institutional and economic relations with Chinese and Macao entities.
The choice of China also reflects the growing interest of Asian investors in European projects in the areas of technology, innovation and sustainability. China stands out as a strategic partner in the fields of research, digitalisation and business development, while Macao reinforces its role as a platform connecting China and Portuguese-speaking countries, creating opportunities for strengthening co-operation with Madeira.
