An Angolan delegation took part last week in the Global Development and Poverty Reduction Forum 2026, held in Beijing, China.
The meeting, under the theme "Uniting global efforts to advance poverty alleviation", brought together representatives from more than 50 countries and various international organisations, with the aim of promoting international co-operation in poverty reduction and sustainable development.
The Angolan delegation was led by the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Carmen dos Santos, who took part in a panel dedicated to the monitoring and implementation of public policies. In her intervention, she highlighted the importance of food security, social inclusion and the improvement of living conditions as essential pillars for sustainable development.
The forum also underscored the central role of food security in government policies, understood as a determining factor for social stability, human dignity and economic growth.
In the opening session, China's Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Zhang Zhu, reiterated China's commitment to supporting countries facing challenges related to hunger and poverty, within the framework of international co-operation for development.
