Products derived from Amazonian açaí were prominently featured at SIAL China 2026 in Shanghai, considered one of Asia's largest food and beverage fairs. With the support of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), co-operatives and Brazilian companies secured high-value deals, sold out their production destined for the Chinese market, and strengthened their international presence.
Among the participants, the co-operative Amazonbai from the state of Amapá stood out, having sold its entire production presented at the fair. The organisation brings together around 200 producers and benefits more than 1,000 local inhabitants, focusing on the sustainable harvesting of açaí and the preservation of the Amazon rainforest.
Participation in the event contributed to the opening of new commercial channels, including the formalisation of a partnership with a major Chinese food distributor, which is expected to boost income generation and the local economy.
In addition to the commercial results, innovation was also highlighted. The company Trueaçaí was awarded the SIAL Innovation prize for an innovative product: coffee made from açaí seeds, being the sole Brazilian representative honoured in this edition.
