The Immigration Museum of the State of São Paulo achieved a historic milestone by winning, on International Museum Day (18 May), the award in the "Best International Co-operation" category at the 23rd edition of China's National Museum Award — Ten Best Exhibitions, promoted by the National Cultural Heritage Administration of China (NCHA) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM). The ceremony took place at the Inner Mongolia Museum in the city of Hohhot.
The exhibition " Silk Connects Mountains and Seas: From China to Brazil", organised in partnership with the China National Silk Museum, located in Hangzhou, was on display between October 2025 and March 2026. Featuring more than 100 pieces, including artefacts, clothing and archaeological and historical objects, the exhibition highlighted the cultural connections between the two countries, as well as the ancient maritime routes that sustained this exchange over time.
This is the first time in nearly 30 years of the award's existence — established in 1997 — that a Brazilian exhibition has received this distinction, marking unprecedented recognition for projects developed in co-operation with Brazil.
