Macao law firm Lupi & Associados has recently established a strategic partnership with Portuguese law and consultancy firm Morais Leitão, reinforcing the international presence of both entities in the Portuguese-speaking space, with a particular focus on the China-Africa corridor.
The co-operation aims to provide integrated legal support for cross-border operations involving China, Africa, Brazil, Portugal and Timor-Leste, particularly in sectors such as renewable energy, oil and gas, mining, infrastructure, life sciences and investor mobility.
The initiative comes at a time when Macao is seeking to establish itself as a platform connecting China and Portuguese-speaking countries. Both firms emphasise that the autonomous region serves as a privileged coordination point for Chinese investors with interests in Africa and for African entities collaborating with Chinese partners.
With this agreement, Morais Leitão is also strengthening its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, adding Macao to its international network, which already covers countries such as Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Timor-Leste and Singapore.
