Brazil has returned to first place in the global ranking of destinations for Chinese investment in 2025, attracting 10.9% of the global total, followed by the United States and Guyana, with 6.8% and 5.7% respectively, according to data recently released by the China-Brazil Business Council (CEBC).

Brazil received US$6.1 billion in Chinese investment spread across dozens of projects, representing an increase of 45% compared with 2024. The growth reflects the strategy of Chinese companies to diversify their presence in Latin America's largest economy and to strengthen their participation in sectors such as clean energy and mining. Over the past five years, Brazil has alternated between first and fifth place among the main global destinations for Chinese capital, also having led the ranking in 2021, the CEBC notes.

Among the factors that make the country attractive to Chinese investors are its large consumer market, abundance of natural resources and availability of clean energy. According to Tulio Cariello, research director of the CEBC, few countries currently bring together all these advantages simultaneously.
