To mark World Portuguese Language Day, observed on 5 May, the Faculty of Languages and Translation at Macao Polytechnic University hosted a themed academic seminar focused on exploring the connections between literature, diverse forms of art and digital expression. The initiative highlighted the importance of the Portuguese language as a domain for creative output, cultural dialogue and the dissemination of knowledge, underlining its role in international exchange, scientific research and cultural preservation. The event also helped to strengthen Macao’s unique standing as a platform linking China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, fostering the development of a Sino-lusophone academic community.
The seminar brought together scholars from leading institutions including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the University of Coimbra, the University of Cambridge, the University of Bath and the State University of Campinas. Experts emphasised that within the digital era, modes of literary expression have moved beyond traditional frameworks, giving rise to new dissemination channels and artistic practices through integration with digital media.
Throughout the event, guest speakers and students further discussed the digital dissemination of artistic works and intercultural dialogue, amid a vibrant atmosphere of academic exchange.
