Machinery and equipment, fuels and foodstuffs were Angola’s main imported goods last year, with China consolidating its position as the country’s top supplier.

Figures from the National Bank of Angola (BNA) show that imports of machinery and equipment reached four billion US dollars in 2025, a year‑on‑year rise of 14.36%. By contrast, spending on fuels fell by 13.19%, standing at 2.6 billion US dollars. Food imports rose by 4.63%, with total expenditure reaching 2.1 billion US dollars.

China accounted for 19.84% of Angola’s overall imports, equivalent to around three billion US dollars. Key imported items included machinery and equipment, construction materials, motor vehicles and spare parts.

According to data from the BNA, Portugal ranked as Angola’s second‑largest source of imports. Angola spent 1.53 billion US dollars on purchases from the Portuguese market, chiefly machinery and equipment, construction materials, as well as chemical and pharmaceutical products.
