The Beijing Auto Show 2026 has come to an end, but the announcements made during the event have already outlined the next steps for Chinese manufacturers in Brazil. Beyond the presentation of new models and technologies, this year's edition left a clear indication: the next phase of consolidation for these brands in Brazil will involve local production.
Several brands have reinforced industrial plans that go beyond importing. BYD is preparing to start production in the country, in Camaçari, Bahia, while GWM is already operating in Iracemápolis, São Paulo, and is developing projects for the construction of a second factory in the state of Espírito Santo. For its part, GAC recently confirmed the installation of an industrial unit in Brazil from 2027 onwards, in partnership with HPE, reinforcing a trend that is beginning to gain momentum.
Beyond production, the Beijing Auto Show also highlighted an evolution in the type of technology destined for Brazil. Solutions such as plug-in hybrids, electrified flex systems and electric vehicles with range extenders are gaining relevance as alternatives better suited to local conditions. At the same time, advances in batteries, ultra-fast charging and software-defined vehicles indicate that the next generation of products may reach the country more quickly, following this strategic repositioning of Chinese brands.
