As part of a cultural exchange initiative between Brazil and China, Brazilian music is in the spotlight at the JZ Spring Festival in Shanghai. In the 2026 edition, the event dedicated to jazz and contemporary Asian sounds features performances by several Brazilian artists.

The participation is part of the Música Brasil Platform, an initiative within the first phase of the Brazil-China Cultural Year programme, which plans to bring more than 120 cultural professionals to the Asian country, including producers and sector agents. The opening session, held last week, featured a performance by singer and composer Ivan Lins, one of the most recognised Brazilian artists in China, and was attended by the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes.

The Minister highlighted the importance of music and art as strategic instruments for promoting mutual understanding between the two countries, reaching both Chinese and Brazilian audiences.

This year's festival concluded on 5 May and ensured a broad diversity of styles, from classical to popular, as well as regional, generational, gender and ethnic-racial representation.
