The National Archives of Brazil have recently joined a new international co-operation agenda with China, aimed at modernising document management and digital preservation. The partnership provides for technical exchange, team training and the development of joint projects, with a focus on the use of technologies, including artificial intelligence, for the processing, organisation and access to public documents.
In recent years, the National Archives have been increasing their use of digital solutions, such as archive management systems and remote access platforms. Co-operation with China is expected to accelerate this process, enabling the large-scale sharing of experiences and the improvement of practices in the sector.
The initiative is part of a memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) and the National Archives Administration of China. The agreement also provides for technical visits and the development of initiatives aimed at identifying and disseminating collections of common interest, particularly those related to relations between Brazil and China.
