In a strategic meeting with the Brazilian press, recently held in Shanghai, China, the SAIC Group formalised a decisive step in its international operation. The Chinese automaker confirmed the launch of the first model from IM Motors, its high-end electric vehicle division, in the Brazilian market.
Unlike the strategy adopted by BYD with the Denza brand, which opted for an independent operation through its own dealer network in the country, the new IM models will be introduced in Brazil under the MG brand.
The strategy envisages that these vehicles will be sold through MG's existing dealerships, leveraging the network that the brand has been consolidating in the country. The information was confirmed by Thiago Marques, Marketing and Product Manager of MG Brazil, during the presentation of the new extended-range hybrid SUVs, the IM LS8 and IM LS9, in China.
In addition to importing new models, MG Brazil is also focused on a long-term strategy and is in advanced negotiations for the potential installation of a manufacturing plant in the country.
