A group of 30 Brazilian businesswomen from the machinery and equipment rental sector will travel to China between 12 and 18 April, as part of an unprecedented business mission that highlights the growth of female leadership in this field. The "China Expedition 2026" will bring together founders and managers of companies from different regions of Brazil for a technology exchange agenda in Changsha, one of China's main industrial hubs for construction equipment.
The group represents companies from a sector that is growing rapidly in Brazil, which currently has more than 30,000 equipment rental companies, primarily serving the construction, infrastructure and industrial sectors. Although there are no official figures on female participation in this market, the number of women in leadership positions has been increasing, following a trend also visible in the construction sector, where around 11% of the workforce is already made up of women, according to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
"This is not just a technical trip, but a high-level management mission," said Helen Záccaro, founder of Gestoras BR, a movement that brings together female leaders in the sector in Brazil and is organising the initiative in partnership with the global aerial work platform manufacturer Sinoboom.
