Co-operation between Brazil and China is in clear expansion. This is the conviction of the former Brazilian Ambassador to China, Marcos Caramuru, who led bilateral relations between 2016 and 2018 and is currently a counsellor at the Brazilian Centre for International Relations (CEBRI). The diplomat was one of the guests at the Valor Brazil-China 2026 Summit, held last week in Shanghai, China.

"Trade and investment have reached unprecedented levels and continue to grow. At the same time, one need only look at the themes of this Summit – energy transition, logistics, infrastructure – to see the interest from governments, companies, academia, regulatory and technical bodies in advancing the relationship. This is not the first time we have discussed these topics; rather, it is that through mutual understanding we are reaching new heights in bilateral co-operation."

The solidity of relations between the two countries was also underscored by Shen Xin, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. In her view, shifts in global geopolitics should serve to bring Brazil and China even closer together, rather than drive them apart.
