Investment opportunities in urban mobility were the central focus of the Rio de Janeiro State Government's participation in discussions at the Summit Valor Brazil-China 2026 in Shanghai. Secretary of Transport Priscila Sakalem presented recent advances in the sector's modernisation, as well as potential partnerships for integrated transport solutions, technological innovation and strategic infrastructure projects, particularly in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro.

One of the main themes of the meeting centred on the connection between ports, railways and logistics corridors, highlighting the role of Chinese investment in the expansion and enhancement of infrastructure in Brazil. In this context, the Port of Açu stands out as having one of the greatest potentials for attracting investment in the country.

"The Port of Açu is a key asset in positioning Rio de Janeiro on the global economic stage. It is a project capable of driving reindustrialisation, internalisation and internationalisation of the state's economy, generating jobs and sustainable development," said the Secretary.

The agenda also included discussions on innovation and carbon emission reduction in the transport sector, with an emphasis on the development of green corridors and low-carbon solutions applied to mobility.
