Angola Seeks China's Support to Access Hong Kong Financial Market

Angola's Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, carried out a working visit to China between 23 and 27 of this month, with the aim of strengthening financial, economic and technological co-operation between the two countries.


The Angolan Finance Minister met with Hong Kong's Financial Secretary, Paul Chan Mo-po, during which they discussed initiatives to support Angola's entry into the territory's financial market, including engagement with local financial institutions and the strengthening of co-operative relations.


According to a statement, Angola's objectives for the visit included demonstrating the openness of the Angolan market to Hong Kong financial institutions, exploring debt issuance in the Asian market, and promoting exchange and training of personnel in the areas of debt and public finance.


Angola also seeks support for the development of its capital markets, the statement reads. It further highlights that, at a technical level, Vera Daves will meet with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, including its London representative office, as well as with the Bank of China.
