The President of Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC), Andre Basbaum, recently formalised another partnership during his official visit to China. This time, the agreement was signed with Shanghai Media Group (SMG), where he was received by Vice President Wu Qian. The group is one of the largest in China, having been founded in 2001 through the merger of four local radio and television broadcasters.
The visit aimed to establish institutional contacts with a view to forging strategic partnerships between the two countries in the media sector, including meetings with public institutions and media companies in Shanghai and Beijing.
Basbaum also visited China Media Group, the country's largest media conglomerate, with which EBC already has a co-operation agreement. During the visit, an expansion of the partnership was agreed upon, including the creation of a joint television format entitled Panorama China.
The president was also received by the Minister of China's National Radio and Television Administration, Cao Shumin. During the meeting, forms of co-operation between the two countries in the development of TV 3.0 technology were discussed, with implementation set to begin in Brazil this year.
