The strengthening of co-operation between Angola and China was recently discussed in Luanda by Angola’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teté António, and China’s Ambassador to Angola, Zhang Bin. The meeting took place between two countries whose relations are characterised by a high level of political trust, strategic c-ooperation and alignment on matters of common interest, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX).

During the meeting, the general framework of relations between the two states was reviewed, with a focus on deepening and diversifying them in the political-diplomatic, economic and commercial spheres.

China remains Angola’s main trading partner, with crude oil being the main export, whilst imports consist mainly of machinery, equipment and consumer goods.

Recent developments point towards a relationship more in line with new global economic dynamics, with a growing focus on direct investment, knowledge transfer and co-operation in emerging areas such as renewable energy and technical training.
