Chinese car manufacturer GAC recently announced that it plans to start producing vehicles in Brazil from the first half of 2027, at a factory in Goiás, as part of the group’s global expansion strategy.
The company will use the industrial facility in Catalão (GO) owned by HPE, which represents Mitsubishi and Suzuki in Brazil. The partnership envisages a production capacity of up to 50,000 GAC vehicles per year, out of the facility’s total capacity of around 100,000 units annually. Currently, according to HPE, the industrial facility operates at a production rate of approximately 25,000 vehicles per year.
GAC’s goal is to achieve sales of 100,000 vehicles in Brazil by 2030, a level close to that already reached in 2025 by BYD, the largest Chinese car manufacturer in the country.
Under the terms of the agreement, HPE will be responsible for the logistics and production of GAC’s vehicles, whilst the Chinese manufacturer’s local operation will take on sales and marketing functions.
