Macao's Prosecutor General, Tong Hio Fong, stated that the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) will play a role as a jurisdictional intermediary between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. During the "Two Sessions" in Beijing, the Central Government once again highlighted Macao's strategic role in connecting with Portuguese-speaking nations. The work report presented by Prime Minister Li Qiang emphasised that the region should leverage its unique advantages and deepen its function as a platform linking mainland China with the Portuguese-speaking world.
According to a statement issued by the MP in response to the "Two Sessions", Macao will be consolidated as a platform for judicial co-operation and professional exchange, aiming to bridge legal systems and promote interaction between magistrates and institutions from Portuguese-speaking countries.
According to Tong, the goal is for Macao to increasingly establish itself as a "privileged link between China and the international Portuguese-speaking community", contributing to national development and consolidating its strategic position within the "one country, two systems" policy.
