On 6 February, Theatro Circo hosted the official ceremony to celebrate Chinese New Year 2026, in an event that brought together the Mayor of Braga, João Rodrigues, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Portugal, Yang Yirui, and the Vice-Rector of the University of Minho, João Cardoso Rosas, highlighting the importance of intercultural dialogue and international cooperation. 

A concert commemorating the Chinese New Year is scheduled for the 16th, featuring the Braga Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Filipe Cunha.

The initiative is organised by the Confucius Institute of the University of Minho and promoted by the Municipality of Braga, with free admission. The concert marks one of the main traditions of Chinese culture and a new cycle of renewal, hope and prosperity - 2026 will be celebrated as the Year of the Horse.
