Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Zheng Xuan recently participated in ceremonies to donate supplies to flood victims, provided by the Mozambique-China Chamber of Commerce and Chinese communities in Mozambique. The events were attended by Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation of Mozambique, Maria de Fátima Manso, Secretary of State, António Niquisse, First Secretary of FRELIMO in Maputo City, and representatives of the Chamber and Chinese communities.

Ambassador Zheng said that Mozambique had recently suffered heavy rains and floods, which had caused a significant number of casualties and extensive material damage. China attaches great importance to the request for humanitarian aid made by the Mozambican Government. Recently, the Mozambique-China Chamber of Commerce and the Chinese communities in Mozambique responded to the appeal by donating emergency supplies. China believes that, under the leadership of President Daniel Francisco Chapo, the Mozambican people will certainly overcome the disasters and rebuild their homes.

The Mozambican side expressed sincere gratitude for China's donation, emphasising that China has always been a trusted friend, brother and partner of Mozambique, and expressed hope that, with the support of the international community, including China, victory in the fight against the disaster will be achieved as soon as possible.
