The popular marches from Alcântara and Bairro Alto, joint winners of the 2025 edition, will represent Portugal at the Lunar New Year parade in Macao, which this year marks the Year of the Horse.

‘This time we have two groups from Portugal. We think they will enjoy Macao and that their performances will bring much joy to visitors and communities,’ said Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of Macao Tourism Services.

The programme includes fireworks displays, drone shows, a parade with 17 floats and the participation of around 1,300 artists from Macao, Hong Kong, mainland China, Italy, Spain, the Philippines, South Korea and Portugal.

‘We are ready for a big Chinese New Year celebration. With nine days of holidays, we expect a daily average of between 158,000 and 175,000 visitors,’ said Helena Fernandes.
