Angola's Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, met on 25 January in Shenzhen, China, with representatives of the multinational MicroPort, supplier of the robotic surgery systems currently in use in Angola, to discuss strengthening technical and scientific co-operation in the field of human resources training in health.
In a statement, the ministry said that the teams analysed the training programme, highlighting the need for more intensive, face-to-face and continuous training to be carried out at MicroPort's facilities, allowing Angolan professionals to consolidate essential technical skills before clinical practice on patients.
It should be recalled that in 2024, the two institutions signed an agreement in Orlando, USA, to purchase robots, which have since been progressively used in tertiary hospitals with infrastructure prepared to accommodate this highly complex technology for robotic surgery.
In addition to the purchase of robots dedicated to robotic surgery, the partnership also provides for the maintenance of equipment and the training of medical nursing teams, electromedical engineers and other technicians.
