On 19 January 2026, Brazil's Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, met with executives from DiDi Global, the Chinese company that controls 99 in Brazil, to discuss investments in electromobility and demand advances in the safety of users and drivers of urban mobility applications, with a particular focus on the protection of women.

The dialogue between Silveira and the executive responsible for DiDi's automotive ecosystem development focused on creating a more modern, secure and attractive regulatory environment for investments in Brazil. The minister emphasised the need to improve the Brazilian legal framework for app-based transport, with special attention to the protection of users and drivers, since trust in the digital mobility model is considered a structural element for the sustainable growth of the sector.

One of the points highlighted by Silveira was the implementation of filming technologies inside and outside vehicles — a model already seen in some operations in China — as a way of increasing the safety of users and workers who use the platform.
