In China, Midea is currently the home appliance brand with the highest turnover and market value in the sector. Now, executives from the Latin American division, the Midea Carrier joint venture, want the company to reduce its dependence on imported parts and products, mostly from China, to increase competitiveness in the sector.

Of the recent investments, the largest was a R$ 600 million investment in a factory for essential household appliances, which opened in December 2024 in Pouso Alegre (MG). The space is already undergoing expansion.

In 2025, approximately R$ 270 million was invested in industrial and logistics units and in the manufacture of air conditioning motors. One of the main objectives is to comply with the country's industrialisation plan, as well as to avoid the complex and high import tax system.

‘To compete in the Brazilian market, a very extreme market that we call household appliances and air conditioning, it is necessary to have local production. And I think our company has matured to the point where it is ready to make this investment,’ said the CEO of Midea Carrier Brasil, Felipe Costa.
