Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors (GWM) has expressed interest in building its second factory in Brazil in Espírito Santo, according to a statement released on 14 January by the state government.
The agreement was signed during the business mission of Espírito Santo's Deputy Governor, Ricardo Ferraço, to China. In Baoding, at GWM's headquarters, Ferraço was received, on his last day in the country, by the owner of the Chinese automaker, Jack Wei. Governor Renato Casagrande participated in the signing of the agreement via video call.
In August, during the inauguration of the hybrid car factory in Iracemápolis, in the interior of São Paulo, GWM's management announced plans to reach between 250,000 and 300,000 vehicles in Brazil. This indicated the possibility of a second factory, since GWM has the capacity to produce 50,000 cars per year in Iracemápolis.
