Recently, the president of Brazil's INPI, Júlio César Moreira, and China's Minister of State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), Luo Wen, attended a meeting to discuss cooperation between the two countries on the subject of Geographical Indications (GI).
The aim of the partnership is to promote the protection of Brazilian GIs in China and vice versa, as well as to combat piracy of these products, conduct information exchanges between the two parties, and hold events and training activities.
During the meeting, both Júlio César Moreira and Luo Wen emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries on GIs, highlighting the fight against piracy and exports. Currently, Brazil has 149 GIs protected by the INPI, 139 of which are national and 10 foreign. China, in turn, has 2,861 products with Geographical Indications.
